Join us for a relaxed evening with the Disabled Artist Network.
This is a chance to meet other disabled artists in Wigan and Greater Manchester. We invite disabled artists to share their creative practice - either through images/objects they bring with them or by sharing through performance on the night.
Hosted by:
- Natasha Tingle – disabled poet, writer and performer
- Zak Bretherton – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead at The Old Courts
What to expect:
- A short introduction about the new Disabled Artist Network and what it hopes to achieve
- Shaun Fallows will be giving a talk with poetry about his creative journey as a disabled performer.
- Time to chat, share ideas and lived experiences
- Space to talk about what support disabled artists would like
- A relaxed atmosphere where you can simply enjoy each other’s company
- Refreshments
We also invite each attendee to bring someone with them who they feel will also benefit from the Disabled Artist Network.
This night is all about connection, conversation and community.
Access info:There is a single large step at the front door and 2 steps into the back room, where our event is, and the toilet area. People needing step-free access need to make their way down the alley to the left. They have a ramp for their side door. The door has a small step, for which they have a ramp. (I have asked if this could be addressed in the long term). The back room is equipped with an accessible toilet. The bar staff are happy to come up to the room to take orders if required. The main access to the room is via the public bar area, so those who may feel overwhelmed by that should also come round to the side.
Supported by The Old Courts (Wigan Heritage and Arts Trust), with funding from Arts Council England and Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
