“Populist Constitutionalism:” Unionist Responses to the 1909-11 Constitutional Crises
Ben Sayle is a PhD candidate at LSE. His research focuses on the right-wing factions of the Unionist Party in Britain; making an overview of their pre-1903 history, their attempts to influence Unionist and national policy before the war, their response and perspectives on the crises of Edwardian society, their wartime activities 1914-1918, and the causes for their decline in the post-war era. He was awarded a BA in Government and History by LSE and an MA in Contemporary British History by King's College London.

Reimagining the Constitution: Ministerial Responses to the Opponents in the Standing Army Debate, 1697-1702
William Mitchell is a PhD Candidate at LSE. His research interrogates how Tory and Whig figures conceptualized of Europe, and how these concepts bolstered these figures’ broader understanding of political economy, geo-strategy, and identity. He was awarded a BA by LSE and an MA under the auspices of the Europaeum, studying at Leiden, the Sorbonne, and Oxford.
