LudoSport Discovery Session - 19th August 2025
Hey there! Are you ready to dive into the world of light saber combat?
Join us for a LudoSport Discovery Session at the Milestone School on Tuesday 19th August 2025 from 7:30 PM to 9:30pm. You'll get to meet other members of the community, and experience LudoSport first hand. We give you the tools to let you duel (if you like) from the first session!
This event is perfect for beginners, looking to learn the basics of light saber dueling. Come and experience the thrill of wielding a light saber in a fun and friendly environment. No prior experience is necessary, just bring your enthusiasm (and your gym kit, and water) and we'll provide the rest!
If you'd like to know the ins and outs of our Discovery sessions in general, we've provided an agenda that is close to what we normally do, though, as with every live event, there may be deviations.
LudoSport uses real world sword skills and the iconic light saber to create an engaging and enjoyable experience. We are part of a growing international community, and a thriving UK one. This is a full contact, controlled combat based sport.

Our classes are avaialble for signup from the end of your Discovery session, and we start our academic year in September.
WHAT TO BRING
The class is really active and a great workout. Bring clothes suitable for being active. Trainers are mandantory to allow safe movement - leggings, jogging bottoms or shorts, plus a loose, but not overly baggy t-shirt is recommended.Bring along a water bottle to stay hydrated.For safety, please remove all visible jewellery.
All sabers and safety equipment are provided.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We start with a great warm up and introduction to the sport. We then will give you the skills to handle a light saber with drills and exercises. At the end of the class we put your skills to the test if you'd like, with a duel with your instructor. Our weekly classes are structured similarly, so you'll be learning and building your essential skills throughout the academic year with us.
HOW TO DUEL
We will give you all the skills to duel in your first session. We train using safe techniques designed to be allow participants to duel for fun without injury. Duelling is optional and cheering from the side of the arena is always appreciated.
These classes are aimed at adults and older teenagers. We are not currently running a class for younger students. If you would be interested in children's classes please drop us an email.

Frequently asked questions
No, not if you don't want to. Many people train but don't duel, and come to exercise, but there is a thriving competitive (friendly competition!) community, which allows you to meet and compete against others throughout the UK and Internationally.
For your Discovery session, we recommend shorts or leggings or jogging bottoms and a t-shirt. The hall is usually very warm, so we recommend lightweight clothes, and bringing your own water. Trainers are a must. There is a bathroom to change in before we start if required.
As LudoSport is a full contact, combat sport, there are rigorous safety rules surrounding equipment. We use specific light sabers from approved vendors to duel with, which is why the Academy provides them for you. Our approved sabers for combat are limited to certain companies.
Safety is our priority - we use approved sabers, gloves and ask that men wear a cup to protect themselves. Women can wear a chest guard if they like. We do provide sabers and gloves.
Individuals are assessed on a case by case basis, from age 14 and up. We ask that if you're younger than 14, that you wait until we add a younger learner's class, or join us from age 14 to try out with us then. This is for safety and to maximise your experience with us.
