Event description

Description

Come along to our event if you are interested in finding out more about becoming a Early Permanence carer for children aged 0-2. We will outline what it means for you and the children and you will have a chance to explore becoming a early permanence carer with a worker after the information session.

Early Permanency places a child in the care of foster carers who are also approved as adopters. If the court then agrees that the child should be adopted and the adoption agency approves the ‘match’ between the carers as adopters and the child, the placement becomes an adoption placement. This is a positive option for the child, who will live with their likely adoptive family from a young age and it reduces moves and disruptions for the child leading to greater stability and security and increased emotional health and well-being. It is the adults who bear the uncertainty and risk whilst decision-making proceeds so that the child doesn't have to!

The advantage for the Early Permanence carers who go on to adopt, is that they will have got to know their children from a very young age.

Early Permanence carers are sometimes known as concurrent or foster to adopt carers. We are looking for resilient carers who can put the needs for stability and attachment of the child first.
