Drypoint:

In this method, the artist scratches an image directly onto a metal or acrylic plate using a sharp needle, raising a burr along the edges of the incised lines. When ink is applied, the burr holds additional ink, giving drypoint prints their characteristic soft, fuzzy quality. Because the delicate burr wears down quickly during printing, only a limited number of strong impressions can be made, making drypoint prints especially prized for their intimacy and expressive texture.
