About this event
Discover The Artist in You! A Four-Week Art Workshop Series
Join us for a series of four inspiring art workshops designed exclusively for JH adult Members. Each week, you’ll be guided by a different local artist, each bringing their own unique style, techniques, and creative expertise.
Week 1: Exploring Light and Colour with Louise Ramsay
Kickstart your creative journey by discovering the unique ways Impressionists used light and colour. Learn seascape painting techniques, explore mark making with acrylics, and develop your understanding of composition and colour, with a special focus on capturing light.
We’ll also explore works from the Seeing the Light exhibition to inspire your own painting as we look at some examples from Jersey and the Channel Islands. You’ll have the chance to practice brushwork, experiment with paint application, and build your confidence in a fun, relaxed setting.
Each workshop offers a welcoming space to unwind, meet fellow JH Members, and enjoy a supportive, creative environment. All abilities are welcome, and materials are provided.
Special Opportunity
At the end of the workshop series, you’ll be invited to showcase your work in Discover the Artist in You!, an exhibition opening this December at the Link Gallery, Jersey Museum, in which you will be invited to a private view.

About the Artist
Louise Ramsay was born and educated in England, and now lives and works in Jersey. After completing a BA Hons degree in Visual Studies and History of Art, Louise went on to study Painting Conservation at The Courtauld Institute of Art in London.
Louise took up painting again after 12 years of working as a Conservator-Restorer in the UK, and joined a small group of artists, who successfully exhibited together. This new love of painting developed as she moved to Jersey with her husband and family, where she continues to develop her practice as an artist.
“I enjoy capturing the unique light and colour of landscapes, seascapes and the vast skies of Jersey. I re-visit favourite landmarks, such as The White House at St Ouen time and time again, and I love to paint Jersey’s beaches peppered with figures. I use acrylic paint, oils and gouache for detailed studies. I love drawing with charcoal, coloured pastels and with pen and ink.
Louise has work exhibited in private collections in Jersey, the UK, the USA and in Australia.
