DISCOVER THE FUTURE, THE NOW AND THE HOW OF SUSTAINABILITY
Description
DO YOU WANT TO BE A LEADER IN ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE?
THEN THIS EVENT COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING.
What is this event about?
Short and sweet: a TED talk can sometimes say more than written words. Click me.
This workshop is a roadmap for sustainable business based on the Blue Economy principles.
Throughout the morning the Transition Expert Alexander Prinsen from the Netherlands and the Systems Thinker Bibi Gratzer will lead you to a deeper understanding of designing a holistic business model by applying Biomimicry, Systems Design and the Blue Economy principles. Come on this explorative journey around the world, where leading entrepreneurs have already successfully applied these principles.
Over some homemade lunch we then discuss how these learnings could influence your own entrepreneurial future and eventually could shape the world in a way you could not imagine, yet.
What is the Blue Economy?
Based on Systems Thinking, the Blue Economy is a holistic entrepreneurial framework. It intends to achieve zero waste by adding value to existing waste streams thus turning external costs into profit centres.
It also is a report presented by Prof Gunter Pauli (founder of ZERI, Institute for Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives) to the Club of Rome in 2009. Since we need an alternative economy, which works globally, Blue Economy seems to be the obvious alternative.
To eliminate potential misconceptions, Blue Economy is called blue, because our sky is blue, as is our ocean and the planet seen from space. The Blue Economy is also applied in the Marine field by the UN as holistic approach to restore our oceans ecosystems.
Participants of the workshop will gain an understanding of:
1. Blue Economy business models
❏ How to offer more with less (We believe there are better options than recycling)
❏ How to apply systems thinking into resource usage and production (Everything is connected, always!)
❏ How to create jobs and social capital by becoming more innovative (We aim at a 100 Million Jobs!)
2. Blue Economy principles
❏ The necessities for life are free
❏ The best for health and environment is cheapest - instead of more expensive
(like the "Green Economy" wants us to believe!)
❏ Renewable energy is more innovative than using solar or wind power
(Did you know gravity could fulfill all our energy needs?)
❏ A local system of production and consumption works with what we have
❏ Innovations are inspired by nature (Biomimetics) and generate multiple benefits
Coffee, snacks and a homemade vegetarian lunch will be provided - we avoid packaging.
