About this event

Join Michelle Place, Apprenticeships and Widening Participation Lead at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust as she talks about careers in the NHS. During the session she will cover the range of jobs available in the NHS and offer tips and advice for making a stand out NHS job application to kickstart your career journey!

Michelle Place has worked for the NHS for 22 years, firstly as a family support worker for 6 years, and then for the last 16 years as an Apprenticeship and Widening Participation Lead. Michelle started in the NHS as a support worker, and then took up learning opportunities to grow and develop and move into more senior positions. Michelle gained a degree and a masters whilst working for the NHS to support her career aspirations. Supporting people to start in the NHS, to grow and develop once working in the NHS are the two areas of work she most enjoys.

In2scienceUK is a charity that empowers young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their potential and pursue degrees, apprenticeships and careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

By leveraging the passion and expertise of STEM professionals and researchers, In2scienceUK gives A-Level students an opportunity to gain insight into the STEM sector as well as the knowledge and confidence to progress to university. In addition to running an award-winning summer programme which transitioned to a virtual format in 2020 in response to Covid-19, they run events and workshops throughout the year to provide ongoing support to In2scienceUK students and alumni.
