Event description
Join us for a guided session on how to unlock the archives and discover a wealth of primary source material for your topic of study!

About this Event

Join the University of Derby and Derby Libraries for a guided session on how to unlock the archives and discover the wealth of primary source material available at Derby Local Studies and Family History Library. Broadsides, letters, early editions and rare books, maps and engravings can all help illuminate your chosen topic of study.

The workshop will focus on 18th Century Derby and the activities of Erasmus Darwin and the Derby Philosophical Society; however the skills gained can be applied to any area of personal research and study.

Whatever you level of study, self-guided or accredited, this workshop will demonstrate how a collection of local material can support your studies and provide an introduction on how to get the most from your local archive or library.

This session is part of The Moon-Struck Philosophers Exhibition. A season of events throughout November 2019, celebrating the achievements and legacy of the Derby Philosophers. Brought to you by Derby Local Studies Library and the University of Derby.
