Chwarae Teg is carrying out research into disability and employment, in which we will explore the barriers that disabled women experience in their careers. The research aims to help decision makers and employers to make positive changes for disabled people in employment.

This research is based on the Social Model of Disability.

Identifying as disabled according to the Social Model of Disability means that individuals living with impairments and/or health conditions are disabled by barriers within society and not by their impairments or differences. These barriers can be physical, like inaccessible buildings, or they can be caused by people's negative attitudes towards disabled people, for example.

You are invited to a group discussion!

As a part of this research, we will hold disabled women-only group discussions to have detailed discussions on the experiences of disabled women and the barriers specific to them.

All focus groups will be hold in accessible venues, at lunchtime, and a light lunch will be provided. Special accessibility requirements (such as BSL interpretation) will be provided on request.

All the information you give will be strictly confidential, not shared with any other parties, and reported on anonymously. The focus group participants will be under Chatham House Rule – meaning, participants respect the privacy of the information revealed in the meeting and neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed or reported elsewhere.

Discussing disabled women's experiences of work: Cardiff
