Event description
Part of the online series - Handel's Green Room: Preparing for CHOC's Tamerlano

About this Event

Cambridge Handel Opera Company (CHOC) presents three online, interactive discussions focussed on key aspects of preparing a performance. Audiences will discover how a CHOC opera production reaches the stage. Artistic Director Julian Perkins, and invited guests, explore the essentials of baroque music drama. Illustrated with musical examples and giving the audience opportunities to participate in a Q&A.

In this second online discussion Julian Perkins and Dionysios Kyropoulos, the stage director for Tamerlano, discuss the vital role that recitatives bring to the drama and how, besides containing dramatic narrative, they often provide the emotional launch pad for an aria.
