Followed by a 30 minute discussion/debate.
About the panel:
Chris Paddock, Associate Director, Regeneris
Regeneris is one of the UK's foremost providers of economic research and advice. From offices in London and Manchester, they work with the public and private sector, providing bespoke local research and extensive knowledge of current issues, trends and policies. Chris himself has over a decade's experience working in economic development and regeneration, leading on a wide variety of assignments spanning, employment policy, town centre development and coastal regeneration. He has a broad technical knowhow and holds significant knowledge of strategic and policy drivers in the UK economy. Chris has led assignments across the South East and is currently developing a plan for economic growth in Lambeth, an economic strategy in Tendring (Essex) and developing a masterplan for Whitechapel. Chris is also a member of the 3Space Advisory Board.
Robert Dalziel RIBA, FRSA
Robert is a founder Director of Rational House Limited, an organisation committed to the search for new forms of high density low-rise urban housing. For over 20 years he was a board Director of Reid Architecture, where he was responsible for a wide range of airport and commercial developments, including air-traffic towers at Edinburgh and Newcastle Airports, the new Farnborough Airport, and headquarters office buildings for Laing O’Rourke.
Robert is co-author of the recently published survey of world housing entitled A House in the City (2013). He has also contributed as an author to a variety of books for RIBA Publications including the Architect’s Job Book (Eighth Edition 2008), Space Craft: Developments in Architectural Computing (2008), and The Commercial Offices Handbook (2003).
David Cassells, Director, AECOM Design + Planning
David has over 23 years of experience in all aspects of urban and rural planning. He has extensive experience in delivering a variety of large scale mixed use developments in the UK. Areas of expertise include a strong understanding of the development planning process, including the negotiation and resolution of complex planning issues both at application stage and at appeal, strategic planning advice and overview of large scale developments, project management, understanding of planning law, s106 negotiation and advice, and community involvement in the implementation of strategies.
David was part of a multidisciplinary team commissioned to deliver the planning permissions for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He was instrumental in developing a flexible parameter based approach to ensure that the venues and structures can be delivered in a phased and timely manner.
Prior to joining AECOM, David led the planning team at Mott Macdonald Group. He has also worked in various senior positions for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and for the London Borough of Hillingdon where he spent 4 years a Development Control Manager.
