As involvement in formal volunteering decreases and people seek more informal and flexible ways to contribute to their causes; charities need to adjust to this challenge.

This requires a little disruptive and radical thinking, to reimagine involvement in the charities in new ways. The session will explore the drivers for change, the potential advantages of a more flexible and diverse approach to volunteering, and the resource challenges. It will encourage charity leaders to think outside the box and imagine whole new ways for people to contribute to their missions. We will explore micro-volunteering, coproduction and how to build communities of interest as well as geography.

Bio

Our workshop will be delivered by Chris Wade, Founder and Director of Time for Impact.

After almost 25 years of charity leadership, always with a strong focus on volunteering and community participation, Chris founded Time for Impact to extend the reach of his experiences to other charities and community groups.

Having worked across sector through his chairing of the National Network of Volunteering Agencies, and as trustee of NCVO and Volunteering England, Chris has always believed in the role charities and volunteering play in connecting citizens with good causes. As well as being extremely experienced as a director of volunteering, diversity and inclusion and membership, he is also a chartered fellow of the CIPD and experienced HR director able to bring the staffing/ resourcing considerations alongside developing workable and scalable volunteering solutions.

Whilst evidence does suggest there is a slight drop in the number of people volunteering, Chris's view is that opportunities to involve supporters in the work of charities and community organisations are still plentiful.There really is no shortage of people who want to help out good causes. The challenge for charities is to know how to enable people to participate in a way that suits them.

Time for Impact bring decades of experience, an innovative and transformative mindset, and a people-powering approach to helping organisations succeed with and through their people. We called the company Time for Impact because fundamentally we strongly believe in the power of giving time and the impact our shared gift of time has on the causes we feel deeply about.
