Research shows there are approximately 2 billion mothers worldwide, yet in 2023, the motherhood penalty forced over 250,000 women out of their jobs. These numbers highlight the enduring inequalities mothers face — from the workplace to culture. Stereotypes continue to fuel one-dimensional narratives, policies, and healthcare approaches that fail women and caregivers.
Rooted in the ethos of Violet Simon’s Disruptors platform — which amplifies the voices of women challenging the status quo — the Disruptive Motherhood event seeks to rewrite this story.
In collaboration with Mums and Tea, alongside MPowder and Out The Box, and supported by Work.Life.
This gathering challenges traditional views of motherhood, recognising that in today’s world, women who mother — whether biological or otherwise — are constantly redefining norms at home, in workplaces, and across society. It’s time to cultivate environments where all caregivers can thrive.
