Dissecting The Author: Letters From The Burma Front with Katherine Venables
Overview
Join us for a thought-provoking Zoom talk exploring a unique perspective on courage, duty, and family through the eyes of a young doctor at the heart of a complex and multi-faceted WW2 campaign in Burma.
Cat Irving, Human Remains Conservator at Surgeons’ Hall Museums, will be joined by author Katherine Venables to discuss her book on her father Harry Walker’s experiences during the Burma campaign in the Second World War.
Combining firsthand letters, rich family archives, and authoritative historical context, the book reveals the realities of war, from battlefield medicine to everyday life behind the front lines and the world Harry writes home to Annie and Flo.
