Event description

Description

This session will focus on the period 1100–1500 and you’ll encounter material such as manuscript volumes and very early printed books. The session will explore how medieval people understood their own lives and their ideas about contagious illness, disability, magic and the natural world. You'll have a chance to chat to both a collections specialist and our poet-in-residence, who has written poems responding to Wellcome's medieval collections.

Location

We’ll be in the Viewing Room. It’s next to the Library entrance on level 2, which you can reach by taking the lift or the stairs.

First come, first served

Booking a ticket for a free event does not guarantee a place on the day. Doors usually open 15 minutes before an event starts and we advise arriving before the scheduled start time to claim a place. We hold some spaces for people with access requirements. If you have any access requests or requirements, email us at access@wellcomecollection.org or call 020 7611 2222.
