Description

This workshop is designed to build on your existing knowledge by introducing advanced search strategies and useful resources you can access beyond Goldsmiths. This will help you to survey existing published material on your chosen dissertation topic and allow you to begin your research or write your proposal.

(Note: this session covers similar content to the workshop Improving Your Search Strategies for Finding Resources)

In this session you will learn how to:

  • Use the functions of Library Search to identify material held outside Goldsmiths
  • Use other web based search tools to cross search Library catalogues
  • Construct planned searches in subject-specific academic databases
  • Use advanced techniques to narrow and filter results for relevance
  • Obtain articles you may need from journals that Goldsmiths does not subscribe to, including using other libraries and inter library loans

Recommended for students reasearching for their dissertation or final projects, including 3rd year Undergraduates and Postgraduate students.
