Event description
Discover how craft practitioners have used immersive technologies to work in new ways & collaborate at distance.

About this event

How can we immerse ourselves in craft?

Learn about the ways in which craft practitioners have applied virtual reality applications and used immersive technologies in Applied Arts Scotland's DISTANCE Project to think about new ways to prototype work, collaborate at distance, and share craft processes and creations with audiences new and old.

Hear experiences directly from makers who took part in the second phase of the Project. Find out about the ways they experimented more deeply with immersive technology as part of their making practice - the learning journey, what worked, and what they want to use it for.

The sharing event with Q&A will be hosted on Zoom. Live transcription and closed captions will be provided, and the event will be recorded.

The DISTANCE Project is a partnership with Soluis Heritage. Phase 1 was funded by Connected Innovators from Creative Informatics via the University of Edinburgh. Phase 2, is supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
