Event description

Description

QMU organises a half-day workshop for Edinburgh-based Lecturers who teach film & media, which aims to take a collegial, collaborative, constructive approach to the UK-wide institutional discourse about decolonising the curriculum.

This meeting with peers offers a collegial space to share experiences and advice on how to diversify our syllabi. We want to share knowledge and concerns about this, in an open, non-hierarchical and non-judgmental atmosphere.

The half-day workshop will be an opportunity to widen our knowledge of and confidence with specific texts to include on film and media modules. This will help us all to include a more balanced worldview and challenging socio-political and historical perspectives on film and media in higher education. The central aim is to address the underrepresentation of people of colour – both in film and media texts and in scholarly work.

As a collaborative sharing exercise, it is hoped that a collegial atmosphere can be sustained where knowledge exchange across peers becomes desirable and indeed possible.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided!

Train tickets to Musselburgh will be reimbursed!
