About Ellie:

Ellie Lowther FRSA brings her own unique style to the world of diversity & inclusion. Making a real difference wherever she delivers. Ellie has quite a CV in the area of inclusion, invited by the RSA to become a fellow in 2021 for “progressing the understanding of inclusion around the UK” and is a former finalist in the Positive Role Model category at the National Diversity Awards

Ellie created the first trans specific safe house project in the UK, supported countless people along their journey and educated many thousands along the way.

She brings those values and her passion for inclusion with her social purpose company Essential Learning Curve Ltd and works across many sectors, including Colleges, Prisons, Health care, public and private sector. Working across such a broad range of areas, she has valuable insight into trans inclusion within the workplace and wider society. Ellie is keen to remove the aspect of tolerance being the impostor of acceptance, as an openly trans woman, she believes education is the key that sets us free.

About the workshop:

This 90 minute session is open to all Teesside university staff and students and enables attendees to reflect on their own position in a more inclusive world. Exploring the aspects of personal growth in an ever-changing demographic and empowering us to understand how to create positive social change, to create a community where everyone is respected and able to thrive rather than survive. This session complements the Trans 101 session that will be held at 10am, so if you are interested in both, please book on both.
