Despite the significant increase in LGBTQ+ representation on screen in recent years, there is still a considerable gap with regards to the diversity of this representation. Film festivals are often some of the only places where this diversity can be fully realised in the exhibition of LGBTQ+ cinema. This session will explore the process of programming LGBTQ+ film, and finding the balance in representions.

Our panellists include Helen Wright of the Scottish Queer International Film Festival, Lydia Beilby and Kim Knowles of EIFF, filmmaker Madeleine Olnek, and moderated by Roisin Geraghty of GAZE LGBT Film Festival Dublin. They will examine the recent mainstreaming of certain areas of the community, and the ways in which this impacts the programming and subsequent reception of LGBTQ+ cinema.

ACCESS

The Building

From the Cambridge Street entrance there is level access to the box office. There is lift access to the bar café and theatres, and adapted toilets on the box office and bar café levels. Guide and hearing dogs are welcome. Please mention to staff on arrival if you require lift access to Traverse 1 or Traverse 2. The Front of House Manager will meet and accompany you to the theatre.

Wheelchair Users

There are wheelchair spaces available in both theatres. Easily accessible seating can be reserved for audience members who prefer to transfer from a wheelchair to a seat. There are two wheelchairs available for visitors' use.

Hearing Enhancement

Hearing enhancement supplies amplified sound to a personal headset (please collect from a member of Front of House team from 30 minutes before start of event). This service is suitable for audience members with low to moderate hearing loss and can be used in conjunction with existing hearing aids.

Toilet Facilities

Gender neutral toilet facilities are available throughout the building.
