At this event, two key areas will be covered by showcasing the research on diversity in the workplace currently being carried out by two of Bournemouth University's academic staff. Firstly, the business case for diversity will be discussed together with the term 'gay friendly' organisation and secondly, the nature and importance of women's relationships with other women in the workplace will be explored.
Dr Simon Roberts is an experienced Senior Lecturer at Bournemouth University (or BU). He is the Programme Leader for the CIPD-accredited MA in Human Resource Management. He has been at BU for 12 years and previously worked part-time at Southampton University. His research interests are managing diversity; equality in the workplace, gay identities and qualitiative studies.
Melissa Carr is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with a background in consultancy and executive education. She has been at BU for the past three years where she is a Senior Lecturer in Leadership Development. Melissa is completing her PhD which examines the importance of women's relationships with other women in the workplace.
