Description

Overview

There is a general recognition that increased diversity within organisations and a positive approach to inclusiveness is directly connected to organisational success.

Supporting this is an increasing body of evidence indicating that having a diverse workforce contributes to greater agility and competitiveness, as well as being good for individuals, good for culture and ultimately good for building more productive and sustainable organisations.

Building a diverse and inclusive organisation does not happen overnight - it takes time, effort and commitment. This often starts with raising awareness around how our own unconscious bias operates in how we make judgments and decisions, and also how bias can be inadvertently built into some of our workplace processes such as recruitment and performance management.

A strategic approach to diversity and inclusion is one which goes beyond simple compliance to meet the minimum standards and where the emphasis is on how a positive and clear approach adds real meaningful value to organisations and their people.

Who is it for?

This training is for HR Managers and Directors, Learning, Talent and OD Managers, Finance Directors, Business Owners and Managers, Recruiting Managers and anyone interested in understanding more about Diversity and Inclusion and developing positive strategies and approaches that can really aid organisational success.

What will you learn?

  • What do we mean, in 2018, by ‘diversity’ and ‘inclusion’ within our organisation? Why is this important? What are the different types of diversity in the workplace?
  • The impact of the ‘differences’ in how we work together in organisations. The impact this has on employers and on employees
  • What do we mean by Unconscious Bias (UB) and what can we do about it? Is simply ‘raising awareness’ enough to make a real and sustained difference?
  • Through understanding more about diversity, inclusion and unconscious bias, we'll consider the potential impact this can have on the key business activities of recruitment, engagement and retention of talent and on the wider success of organisations
  • We'll look at how to embed a positive approach to diversity and inclusion at a leadership and senior level, how this can impact on culture, and the wider business benefits, and how this can enhance an employer brand
