About this Event

Diversity Matters: Inspiring Inclusion in the Workplace

What it means to be safe at work

At work, every individual has the right to belong with legitimacy and dignity, and to be themselves, without fear of prejudice or discrimination, and with the help of our key speakers and those sharing their lived experiences, our conference aims to encourage deep discussion and inspire meaningful action.

We are pleased to announce the details of the fifth event in our Diversity Matters: Inspiring Inclusion in the Workplace series … and this time, we’re in Birmingham!

Have you considered how safe your colleagues feel at work? Mental health first aid training, the media, and specialist charities / networks have helped to raise awareness of what needs to happen, but how far is the dial actually moving?

• According to a Labour Force Survey (LFS), for HSE.gov.uk, 15.4 million working days were lost in 2017/18, due to stress, depression, or anxiety. To add to that, a piece of research conducted by the Mental Health Foundation and Unum in 2018, also reported that almost half (45%) of those diagnosed with a mental health problem in the last five years, cited other reasons for their work absence.

• Of course, stress can be just one result of physical or psychological insecurity at work and with the help of our esteemed speakers, we aim to open up the conversation and put ‘safety’ at the top of the agenda.

Q. Who is this event for?

A. Simply put, everyone.

Whether shaping the inclusion strategy forms part of your remit, you are involved in redesigning work spaces, you are a line manager wishing to learn how to support your team’s psychological well being, or you would like to meet with like minded individuals and share your experiences, this conference is for YOU.

The details

Our whole day conference will be packed full of presentations, panel discussions, exhibitors showcasing their products designed to support your inclusion efforts, facilitated networking, and FREE entry to the Science Museum.

This will be a great networking opportunity to meet with other leaders in a variety of sectors, all with an interest in supporting the safety and well being of their workforce.

We'd love you to join us for a day packed full of useful tips, case studies, knowledge sharing and networking.
