Keynote
In life we all face challenges; there are times when relationships end, we lose jobs or loved ones. In this remarkable and moving keynote, Brian Skelton, DTM, shares the inspiring tale of how he overcame his biggest challenge, his stammer.
Workshops
With a fantastic line-up of workshops from four experienced and authoritative presenters, the most difficult part will be choosing the two you will attend!
Embryo to Expert - James McGinty
In this workshop, James will describe the process of creating a speech from the kernel of an idea through to delivering it with expertise and confidence. It doesn’t matter if you are speaking in your Toastmaster’s club, entering a contest, giving a wedding speech, delivering a presentation at work or going out to give a professional keynote at a conference, there will be something for you in this workshop.
James McGinty is a multi-award-winning international speaker with over 25 years experience in Public Speaking and training. As well as being a renowned competitive speaker, with no fewer than 19 Toastmasters District final appearances, resulting in 4 wins and several podium finishes, James works as a professional speaker and coach to executives at some of the UK’s top companies and FTSE 100 enterprises.
Leadership Lessons from the Dark Side - Stephanie Bosch
Like everyone else, you have a dark side. It might be hidden behind a mask that you think will protect you, but it’s there. As a leader, this can be fatal. Especially when your mask starts to slip; under pressure, in stressful situations, you often lose self-awareness, act irrationally and fall into flight, fight, freeze mode. This unpredictability creates distrust and puts your reputation at risk - it can even hinder your performance and career progression.
In this workshop you will learn about the risks of dysfunctional leadership and what the dark side is. Stephanie will talk to you about the bright side of the dark side and which lessons you can learn from evil characters like the Joker and Darth Vader. Stephanie will conclude by showing you how you can ditch your mask and step into your power by showing up without the mask - as your authentic best version of yourself.
At the end of this session you will know:
- What evil characters can teach good leaders
- How being aware of your dark side will increase not only your self-awareness but your performance too
- What happens when you 'ditch your mask'
You will walk away with hopefully some food for thought, reflections and the strong will to become the best leader you can be!
Leadership Workshop - Teresa Dukes
You want to effectively lead and bring your team along with you, but somehow you find it's not easy in the workaday world.
To be an effective leader, you need to have clear knowledge and understanding of yourself, know how others work and adapt your own style to accommodate theirs. It’s important that you encourage participation, teamwork, and inclusivity.
Explore the qualities of an effective leader and explore how to apply them in your career and home life with Teresa Dukes, DTM and past International Director of Toastmasters International.
Teresa, a certified world class speaking coach, trainer, and speaker will help you become a "real leader" who can be understood and remembered. Uncover your hidden talents, with Teresa’s expert guidance, so you can present at your best and walk away from your fears.

Storytelling - Freddie Daniells
You’ve heard a lot of stories at Toastmasters, perhaps you’ve told one or two of your own and felt they didn’t have the impact they could have. Well thankfully, storytelling is a learnable skill and an essential one to take your speaking to next level. The remarkable presenter, Freddie Daniels, will set you on the right at his Storytelling Workshop.
You will leave Freddy’s workshop a better storyteller, confident in the knowledge of
- why stories matter
- how to get story ideas
- how to choose the right idea for your audience
- how to structure your story
- how to add extra punch to your story
Freddie is a speech coach and past District Governor who has taught storytelling skills to more than 1,000 Toastmasters and mentored numerous district champions and World Championship of Public Speaking finalists.
