The DLA conference is renowned for its combination of cutting-edge legal commentary, insightful exposition and shaping the policy agenda for discrimination lawyers - this year is no exception.

This year we will be:

• exploring the current key equality and discrimination issues through the lens of gender

• considering why prejudice is still so strong and how we can bring an end to it

• examining the legal tools to bring about change.

This conference will provide a unique opportunity for speakers and participants to discuss current equality law developments, to hear from leading experts, to be brought up-to-date on legal and policy developments, to improve understanding of particular areas of equality law and to share knowledge and experiences with other lawyers, advisers, trade unionists and campaigners.

Speakers in the morning include Sam Smethers, Chief Executive, Fawcett Society, Karon Monaghan QC of Matrix Chambers and Professor Iyiola Solanke, Professor of EU Law and Social Justice at Leeds University. The afternoon will consist of our usual lively and participatory workshops and conclude with a panel discussion.

As in previous years, during the afternoon participants will be able to choose topics they wish to explore in greater depth during breakout sessions covering a range of current equality law issues. The breakout sessions, led by experienced practitioners with specialist expertise, will provide practical advice in relation to particular areas of law or procedures.

Our afternoon panel, which will be chaired by Robin Allen QC of Cloisters Chambers will include experts in areas of policy, rights, law and politics. Confirmed panel members include: Joanne Kaye, southwest regional TUC vice chair, Michael Newman of Leigh Day Solicitors, Janet Veitch, Women's Budget Group (Trustee).

A drinks reception at the end of the afternoon will be a great chance for participants and speakers to network.

We very much look forward to seeing you there.
