Disability and Society -
the law and the lived experience

If you are interested in equality law and practice and
concerned about how the gains of the past can be protected
and used to fight the challenges of tomorrow,
then this is the conference to attend.

The conference will be held on Friday 4th October 2019 at the
London offices of Allen & Overy (Bishops Square, London
E1 6AD).

This year’s conference draws upon the experience of practitioners,
academics and grassroots activists in addressing the challenges
faced by disabled members of society.

We are particularly pleased to provide a cross-disciplinary
programme addressing disability discrimination across a broad
spectrum of practice areas, in the context of employment,
education, goods and services, welfare rights and the criminal
justice system. The conference will also consider the impact of
social, political and economic factors on discrimination, protection
in the law and enforcement in the Courts and Tribunals, including
but not limited to issues of structural inequality, barriers to access
to justice and the representation gap.

Our keynote speakers are Roddy Slorach (author and front-line
activist),
Neil Crowther (independent equality and human rights
consultant),
Doug Paulley (disability rights campaigner and activist)
and
Catherine Casserley (of Cloisters Chambers) alongside a
prominent line up of leading barristers, solicitors, academics and
grassroots activists.

A drinks reception at the end of the afternoon will be a great chance
for participants and speakers to network.

We very much look forward to seeing you there.
