Home Office v Windrush Generation: the origins and future of the hostile environment and Windrush Scandal
The DLA presents a PGM panel of Jamie Beagent (Leigh Day), Adrian Berry(Garden Court Chambers) and Brian Dikoff (Migrants Organise) discussing their analysis of how the Windrush scandal unfolded, the effects of the Immigration Act 2014 and the future of immigration law and justice. Jamie works supporting Windrush migrants through litigation. Adrian is Chair of the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association (ILPA) and, in this capacity, recently gave evidence to the Home Office Select Committee as part of the Windrush Children inquiry (you can watch proceedings / read the transcript here). Brian and the team at Migrants Organise lead work against the hostile environment agenda and are developing a project about supporting migrants with mental capacity issues. All three speakers will share their insights from working with migrant communities affected by the hostile environment, policy and law and its impact on increasing discrimination based on race and nationality. We hope you can join us for this discussion.
These meetings are free for members. Non-members are welcome but are asked to pay £20 (or join! Membership for students is £20 per year).
