The Downs Light Railway Trust offers practical learning activites for children to learn vocational skills through the maintenance and project work offered by the Downs Light Railway.
New members
Prospective new members may sign-up for an induction. This is not a full day activity. Its purpose is for us to meet the parents and children, introduce them to the activities of the DLR, and advise on the Personal Protective Equipment that are required before taking part.
Existing Members
This is a general activity session. Pupils must satisfy the following before being eligible for signing up to this activity:
- Must have already been enrolled on the Downs Light Railway
- Must be over 7+ years (under 16s with parental consent)
General activity sessions are limited to twelve pupils. Driving training is not included as part of this activity. Where required, operation of locomotives will be done by those attending who are qualified on type.
Pupils with an active annual membership to the Downs Light Railway may use their membership code to get a discounted rate for this activity.
