Professor Paul W. Miller, MD MB BCh BAO DMH MRCPsych FRSA, is a psychiatrist; EMDR Europe accredited EMDR Trainer and EMDR institute (USA) facilitator. He Chaired the training subcommittee of EMDR UK and Ireland Association and introduced EMDR therapy to Northern Ireland’s NHS. In 2011, he founded Mirabilis Health, a private clinic specializing in trauma-focused therapy. He is Visiting Professor, Faculty of Life and Health Sciences, School of Nursing with the Centre for Maternal, Fetal and Infant Research (MFIR) and is exploring the use of Low-Intensity EMDR and EMDR therapy in the perinatal period: he supervises PhD candidates within MFIR. For over 5 years, he has been providing EMDR therapy training at an introductory skill level for every Pre-Registration Mental Health Nurse in UU and the trauma-model for mental disorder is a core part of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner MSc in Mental Health. He jointly developed the curriculum in collaboration with Mary Findon-Henry and Marie O’Neill. A Founding Member of the Council of Scholars; an intellectual community of EMDR international thought-leaders, working together to produce material that will advance the field, establish the parameters of EMDR efficacy, and identify areas for future research. He was founding Chair of the Training and Credentialing Workgroup. In 2020, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce – this is an award granted to individuals that the Royal Society of Arts judges to have made outstanding achievements to social progress and development.
