Who is the course for?
For clinical staff who are directly involved in facilitating conversations and completing documentation regarding ACP/DNACPR. (medical staff, nurse consultants; clinical nurse specialists; developmental clinical nurse specialist; advanced nurse practitioners and developmental advanced nurse practitioners).
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Define terminology associated with ACP/DNACPR.
- Recognise the legal framework/professional guidance surrounding ACP/DNACPR decisions.
- Explain the role of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) regarding ACP/DNACPR.
- Appreciate the role of a Welfare Attorney.
- Identify the potential difficulties when having ACP/DNACPR discussions.
- Identify communication skills to facilitate the ACP/DNACPR discussions.
- Describe the My Care Choices Register.
