Overview

The Iron Mill College School Counsellor Network presents Do School Counsellors need a Union? This is an online seminar.

School counselling is the most prevalent source of mental health support for young people in the UK. Its history spans over 60 years and access to school counselling is a statutory requirement in three of the four nations. In spite of this, school counsellors have no professional recognition, guaranteed rates of pay or security of tenure. This seminar will consider the views and experiences of members of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Union, the only union for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK.

Considering the history of school counselling, recent developments in the field and the very real problems and challenges that school counsellors face, we will explore the question, Do School Counsellors Need a Union?

Come along and listen to the speakers and share your own views and opinions.
