Event description
Women coming together to ask questions about the process for selection and the reality of becoming an MP - and thinking about support needed

About this Event

The Nottingham East selection has been announced as an All Women Shortlist (AWS), which means only women can put themselves forward to become our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) and hopefully our next MP.

This workshop has been set up by Nottingham East Women's Forum as a friendly informal session open to all self- idenfied women in Nottingham’s three Constituency Labour Parties who are interested in possibly becoming the Nottingham East candidate [or a future candidate elsewhere] and wanting to ask the not so silly questions on the process and to hear about the reality of being a woman MP.

  • Adele Williams CLP Branch Secretary - Understanding the process of shortlisting and selection in Nottingham East Constituency Labour Party
  • Sal Morawetz Women's Officer Nottingham East CLP - What support happens after you get selected with existing policy in the constituency
  • Lilian Greenwood MP for Nottingham South - the reality of being a woman MP in Parliament
  • Chantal Lee, St Ann’s Ward activist & prospective St Ann's Ward Cllr– reflections & lessons from her time as a PPC in Newark & Sherwood
