How comfortable are you to work with contributors who are hurting because terrible things have happened to them? Directors, producers, crews, writers and film makers can regularly be working with people who are vulnerable but choose to share their experiences. This interactive and engaging workshop teaches trauma awareness and good practice. It will also make sure you look after yourself when covering these tough emotional assignments. Through audio clips, survivors who were interviewed and filmed with dreadful times share what helped and what harmed. It is an eye-opener.

What is trauma/a potentially traumatic event?

Getting it right from the start. Establishing professional relationships with contributors

Awareness around traumatic bereavement

Sensitive interviewing, face to face and remotely. What to ask, what not to ask. How to handle your contributors throughout the process and why it’s important

Share your experience and expertise

Self- care: what to look out for, what to do about it, how to protect yourself, building resilience

Please ensure you have your camera and audio on for the session as it is interactive.
