Event Details

The University of Birmingham's Cultural Engagement Team are hosting a week-long festival celebrating the identity of University of Birmingham as an exceptional research institution.

Taking place Monday 18 - Sunday 24 March 2013, and spanning the University campus, the festival will be a free programme showcasing culture, research and collaboration at the University through talks, exhibitions, performances, workshops and screenings open to staff, students, alumni and beyond.

 

As part of the Festival, the DHD Project and the Do.Collaboration team are opening the HUB to visitors for a range of sessions and talks. All events are free of charge and open to everyone.

 

Do. Collaboration PhD Research Demonstrations

Visit the brand new Chowen Prototyping Hall at the Do.Collaboration Hub for two special demonstrations by PhD students Andrew Lewis and Hafizuddin Yusof.

Andrew will present and demonstrate his 3D scanning and printing research, and Hafiz will demonstrate his research around multi-touch applications using sensor tracking on our 65” touch table.

Do. Collaboration Multi Touch Play Time

Have a play and speak to developers at the new £2.4 million Do.Collaboration Hub open day. Complete with multi user, multi touch equipment, including a range of touch tables, vertical 65” touch screens and a large 4k multi touch wall, this technology has been used to develop a wide range of innovative new applications which bring to life some of the regions Heritage and Cultural collections.

Dr. Chris Creed, Technical Developer for the Digital Heritage Demonstrator Project, will also be showcasing his most recent research into Kinect sensors examining how people interact with large screens and digital walls using mid-air gestures.

Come & have a play and help us learn more about this exciting new technology!

Do. Collaboration Chowen Prototyping Hall Guided Tours

Do.Collaboration will be opening their new, £2.4 million, ERDF funded, Chowen Prototyping Hall and Do.Collaboration Hub to visitors to come and learn more about our exciting work in Digital Heritage. Visitors, both internal colleagues and external businesses and organisations, will have a tour of our facilities and have the opportunity to learn more about our innovative way of working and how they can be involved in our work.

Institute of Advanced Studies and Do. Collaboration networking event

Join us and other like-minded colleagues to find out about the possibilities for interdisciplinary research, tools and advice on collaboration.

There will be a briefing from the Directors of the Heritage Learning Hub and their project team, updates on IAS activity and funding possibilities as well as a chance to meet with colleagues who have run IAS workshops.
