About this Event

Cornwall Film Festival and the Fish Factory are pleased to invite you to join us at Docs Hub: a new monthly screening of documentary film with food and discussion at the Fish Factory, Penryn for only £10.

Our first film is Concerning Violence and has been specially chosen to support Black History Month.

Concerning Violence | Dir Göran Hugo Olsson | 2014 | 90 mins | Documentary/Drama | 15

Concerning Violence is an archive-driven documentary covering the most daring moments in the struggle for liberation in the developing world, as well as an exploration into the mechanisms of decolonization through text from Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth.

Fanon’s landmark book, written over 50 years ago, is still a major tool for understanding and illuminating the neocolonialism happening today, as well as the violence and reactions against it. Narrated by Ms Lauryn Hill, it is a bold and fresh visual narrative on Africa, based on newly discovered archive material covering the struggle for liberation from colonial rule in the late ‘60s and ‘70s.
