UniMed Doctor for a Day
What is Doctor for a Day?
Work experience is arguably the most crucial part of the medicine application process – without any it is impossible to secure a university offer. Medical work experience is getting more and more difficult to obtain with tightening hospital and GP restrictions, so we offer GCSE and A-Level students the opportunity to be a UniMed Doctor for a Day and make their UCAS application a success.
Learn real clinical and patient care skills which you can use in your medicine personal statement and interviews to demonstrate a commitment to medicine, an understanding of NHS work experience issues, scientific knowledge and a realistic grasp of what a career in medicine entails.
See what the day involves and hear some feedback from previous students
What skills will you learn?
- Suturing (making stitches)
- Cardiac arrest scenario and CPR
- Taking blood pressure
- Venipuncture (taking blood)
- Patient care skills and history taking
