About this event
Following the success of last year's Doctor Who at the Electric Palace Cinema, Project Art Works brings you a Doctor Who Cyberman Special with three classic Cyberman episodes plus art installation.
These episodes chart the changing face of the Cybermen, from their 1st appearance in 1966, through to the 70s and 2000s!
The Tenth Planet - released 1966 (25 minutes)
Revenge of the Cybermen - released 1975 (25 minutes)
Rise of the Cybermen - released 2006 (45 minutes)
This screening is part of the Electric Palace Cinema’s second TV Festival, an annual celebration of John Logie Baird, whose pioneering television experiments in Hastings over a century ago earned the town the title 'Birthplace of Television.
With thanks to the BFI National Archive for this annual festival of communal TV watching, discussion and reminiscence. Please note that the rare nature of this screening means we will be screening from BFI archives and original tapes which have not been remastered for home video or iPlayer releases and maybe not meet modern quality standards - but could be more rough and ready!
Works in the exhibition will include The Assmilator by Daniel Wells which showed at the Hastings Comic Con Festival earlier this year.
This screening will take place in the studio space of Project Art Works, with high ambient light levels and the option to move around the space throughout the film.
Project Art Works offers level access throughout and is suitable for wheelchair users.
We have allowed time in the programme for the audience to arrive and feel comfortable in the space.

Project Art Works collaborates with people with complex support needs, families and circles of support. Our practice intersects art and care, responding to neurodivergence, its gifts and impacts. Challenging paradigms of inclusion, it spans direct practical and holistic support, film, events, projects and exhibitions. Project Art Works studios provide the conditions for a broad range of autonomous and collaborative practices with neurodivergent artists, who take part on their own terms.
A relaxed screening is where people can watch a film in a relaxed environment. They are different from regular film screenings because:
- the lights are low instead of completely off, so you can still see where you're going
- the volume is a little lower than a standard screening
- you can move around the cinema freely as you wish during the screening
- you can leave the cinema room during the screening and return without having to worry
- you can make noise, stim, and enjoy yourself
- there is a friendly atmosphere
- there are people around if you need any help
