The Centre for Speech and Language Intervention Research (CSLIR) at University College London is providing an information session for SLTs and other AHPs who are committed to clinical research as part of their career, and are considering further study at the doctoral level (PhD) or who already have/are completing a PhD and are considering postdoctoral research opportunities.

Is this for me?

Are you keen to become/remain research active? Do you have an idea for a project? Confused by funding options? Unsure how to contact potential supervisors/mentors? Need advice about the process of applying to the ICA HEE/NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Programme to fund a PhD or a postdoc (clinical lecturer) position? Wondering if you’re the kind of person they want to fund?

What will I get out of attending?

Insider information on the NIHR schemes and other funding sources: a short talk on the ICA Health Education England NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Programme of funding, and on the ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership, followed by a Q&A session.

Hints, tips and the realities of applying for funding: an opportunity to network with SLTs who are currently or have been funded by the NIHR to complete a PhD, and with SLTs who have other PhD funding.

Research surgery (optional): Chat with a UCL staff member with research expertise in SLT and related fields to work out the best way to progress your plans for a PhD/postdoc. You can get advice on building and strengthening your profile and CV, or on your research ideas, however tentative. Please note, these will be short individual meetings.

When and where is the session?

Wednesday 24 May 2017 at Chandler House (room B02 in the basement), 2 Wakefield Street, WC1N 1PF, from 6-8pm including refreshments.

Do I need to book?

Yes, but only so we can cater for numbers. This event is FREE. When you book, we ask you to tell us your profession (e.g. SLT, audiologist, teacher etc) and if you want to take part in the research surgery (so we can match you with a suitable member of staff).
