Doctoral College Festival of Postgraduate Research 2020
Event Information
Description
Join us for our annual celebration of postgraduate research at the University of Brighton. Our lively programme of events aims to showcase the broad range of innovative and groundbreaking research being undertaken by our PhD students.
The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the Three Minute Thesis (3MT), a competition challenging students to present their research in just three minutes. This nail-biting event will see the judges’ winner take home £400 and go forward to the national 3MT competition where they could win £3,000.
In addition to 3MT, we'll have research poster and photo competitions, Bake your Thesis, presentations, drop-in sessions, doctoral inaugurals and more. Audience members will be able to cast their vote for the various competitions during the afternoon.
If that weren't enough, before the main festival programme kicks off, we'll be opening the doors to our living library where you can find out more about our doctoral students by participating in Blind Date with a Living Book (11-12.30, Huxley 406).
A drinks reception and prize-giving event will close the festival.
The Festival of Postgraduate Research is aimed at doctoral students, supervisors, research staff, taught students and any member of the university interested in seeing the work of our postgraduate researchers and finding out more about PhD study at Brighton.
Ticket sales close on 23.30hr on Thursday 26 March 2020.
