Event description
Join Doctors for Choice UK for a screening of 'After Tiller' followed by a panel discussion with doctors working in abortion care.

About this Event

Doctors for Choice UK are holding a screening of the documentary ‘After Tiller’ followed by a panel discussion. After Tiller is a powerful documentary about the murder in 2009 of Dr George Tiller, a physician who performed third trimester abortions in the US. The film tells the stories of the few remaining doctors who openly provide later gestation abortions in America, and those of the women they treat.

With increasing restrictions to abortion rights in the US, the message conveyed by this film is more important than ever. However, here in the UK many women also face difficulties in accessing second trimester abortions, particularly those with complex medical conditions.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion with experts on second trimester abortion, followed by a drinks reception.

'bpas routinely sees women who have been left with no option but to continue a pregnancy that they do not want and which poses a risk to their health and their life’

- Medically complex women and abortion care, BPAS

'After Tiller is not so much a memorial to a man who was murdered, but more a fitting and unflinching tribute to his slogan “Trust Women”.’

- Lisa Hallgarten, writing for The Lancet (full review here)
