Event description

Description

This workshop takes place in the Learning Studio, Engine Hall, People's History Museum

This workshop is a discussion and visioning exercise about DIY archiving and archives of DIY cultures. In the workshop we will discuss what an archive of DIY culture looks like, what’s in it, who looks after it, how the results of our creative practice and cultures are accessed and described, and if/how institutions can support us. The results of the workshop will feed into the development of a DIY archiving manifesto, which can be used as a reference for those working within archives of DIY cultures.

This workshop is led by Kirsty Fife. Kirsty is a punk archivist who is currently doing a PhD about methods for documenting and archiving UK-based DIY music spaces at UCL. Kirsty also plays in Cat Apostrophe and makes Move Under Yr Own Power and Hard Femme zine zine. This workshop will be happening as part of the research project. Everyone attending the workshop will be given a full briefing about the project, including information sheets and consent forms.
