We are delighted to welcome Jorge Laplace for a Masterclass hosted by Iberodocs and Scottish Documentary Institute.

Jorge Laplace (1981, Jerez, Spain) is an award-winning film screenwriter & director, and two-time Goya nominee for '30 Years of Darkness' and 'Alfred & Anna'. His last film '23 Shots' received wide praise by critics and audiences all over the country, and won several awards including the Iris (Spanish Emmy) and the Imagenera Award at the Sevilla European Film Festival.

Lapace's films have won 28 international awards and over 200 international official selections in festivals such as Cannes FF, San Sebastian FF, International Documentary FF of Amsterdam, and the Brooklyn FF. Additionally, he was awarded the Best Young Andalusian Artist of 2013 as Andalusian of the Future. Jorge studied Screenwriting at different film schools and universities in Seville, Barcelona and New York City and was awarded several scholarships like the prestigious Talentia Scholarship. He also taught Filmmaking in film schools in Seville (Escuela Andaluza de Cine) and Barcelona (Estudio de Cine).

The creative processes of real productions will be explained, from which we will be able to reflect on the numerous ways of approaching the documentary genre.
