Does Wales need more role models?
Full Circle Education has conducted the Girls’ Rights and Attitudes Survey in response to a growing concern about the lives of girls and young women in Wales. Despite an outwardly positive picture of girls out-performing boys throughout education, and more girls than ever progressing onto university, the long-term outlook for youngwomen is not so rosy, and their everyday experiences are extremely concerning.
More than half of respondents (55%) stated there are not enough positive role models for young women in Wales. One young woman spoke eloquently of the undercurrents of gender inequality that have existed in Wales for generations.
