Doing Business Differently
Overview
Community run shops, sports clubs, local energy partnerships, farmers markets – these are all thriving examples of community-driven enterprises shaping Cornwall.
Co-operatives and mutuals have been described by the Department of Business & Trade as “significant but often overlooked” part of the UK economy – delivering social value as well as strong business performance. This is a resilient sector to be celebrated - according to the Backing Your Business report
The Government describes these as “Alternative Business Model” enterprises; we see them as the life force of our communities: organisations that drive our local economy by connecting people and providing vital products and services.
This is a resilient sector to be celebrated - according to the Backing Your Business report, more than 75% of co-operative start ups in the UK remain active after 5 years.
Cornwall Growth Hub is committed to supporting co-operatives, mutuals and ABMs. Can you help us to reach these enterprises?
Join us for a round table event to unpack:
- How community-driven businesses are positively shaping Cornwall
- Understanding barriers and challenges for these enterprises
- Create opportunities for co-operatives, mutuals and ABMs to access support from the Growth Hub
This event is for people who run co-operatives, mutuals and ABMs in Cornwall as well as voluntary and community sector representatives who support them.
Expect a collaborative and open session facilitated by the Cornwall Growth Hub Team and The Agile Communications Agency.
