Description

Following on from the wonderful gathering in February, a second chance to spend an evening with Sue Palmer (Upstart Scotland Chair and Author of Toxic Childhood, Upstart, 21st Century Boys and literacy consultant), Kate Johnston (Upstart Scotland Vice Chair and former Early Years teacher) and Tam Baillie, (former Children and Young People's Commissioner for Scotland). Joined on this occasion by Professer John M. Davis, Professor of Childhood Inclusion at the University of Edinburgh, a supporter of improvement and exploring how Scotland can move forward to a far better system of early years caring education.

In Year of Young People 2018, this is an evening, co-hosted by Commonweal East Lothian and Support from the Start, to hear the case for Kindergarten stage for all Scotland's children 3-7 yrs, as the best form of education and preparation for formal education and life. The evening will include short presentations from the panel and an open Q & A session.

This event is of interest to parents and carers, high school and further education students, employers in all categories, teaching and early years professionals, social work and volunteer organisations, particularly those caring for children, young people and families. Parent council members and community members along with Local Councillors and others involved in the world of policy and health/well-being as well as education.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

11+ due to timing of event. No ID required. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by appropriate adult.


What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Street parking as per markings. ELC carpark available in evening and longstay in Tesco carpark.


What can I bring into the event?

Welcome to bring own refreshments. Tech which can work from own battery / wireless technology.
