An online training specifically developed to explore the impact of Domestic abuse on children and their families delivered by Tender

About this Event

Who? Frontline practitioners working with children and their families

Why? Participants will examine the ways in which children and young people can experience DVA in the home. Signs and indicators of such experience, and how the impact of this may manifest itself will also be explored. Appropriate responses and barriers that exist to children and young people accessing support. The toxic and pervasive nature of Coercive Control will also be explored during this session. Legal definitions and current supporting theory will highlight how coercive control is experienced and perpetrated. Recent case studies will highlight the dangerous and insidious nature of this type of abuse alongside the potential early warning signs.


• To help staff understand the facts, myths and risk factors relating to sexual and domestic violence.

• To increase understanding of domestic violence and abuse and its impact on children and young people.

• To empower and encourage staff to promote a culture of understanding and empathy across the whole setting/ community.

• To develop an understanding of the issues that can arise for young people as they begin to engage in intimate relationships

• To help staff understand the facts, myths and risk factors relating to coercive control.

• For staff to feel able to address these issues with children and young people and more effectively support children and families.
