In the UK 1 in 3 women, 1 in 6 men, and 1 in 5 children will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lifetime. This means that you almost certainly know someone who is, or has been, affected by abuse.

This e-learning training will give you the knowledge and skills to:

  • Recognise the different forms of abuse;
  • Establish who domestic abuse can affect, and the reasons why people may abuse others;
  • Recognise the barriers that people face in talking about abuse, and the reasons why someone may stay in an abusive situation;
  • Understand the impact that abuse and trauma has on people;
  • Have ‘difficult conversations’ by asking people about abuse and signposting them to the relevant support.

LWA are an established charity who have been providing domestic and sexual abuse services since 1977. We regularly deliver training to professionals and organisations across the UK. Our training is created by a skilled trainer who has direct knowledge and experience of supporting individuals who have been affected by domestic abuse.

This training is suitable for:

  • Professionals and volunteers working in the health and social care sector who want to refresh their knowledge around domestic abuse;
  • People working or volunteering in other sectors who want to develop their knowledge and skills for the workplace;
  • Members of the public who want to develop their knowledge and skills to be able to support family members or friends.
