Description

This is an exciting opportunity to hear about DART and learn how we support organisations to deliver evidence-based services

How domestic abuse affects children

Developed by the NSPCC, DART is based on evidence that children's outcomes are improved if the abused parent is supported to take an active part in the child's recovery. A group work intervention for mothers and children, evaluation demonstrated that:

  • Emotional and behavioural difficulties for children attending DART reduced significantly more than a comparison group of children.

  • Significant improvements were found following DART mothers' self-esteem and confidence in parenting had increased and children had fewer emotional and behavioural difficulties.

  • Qualitative interviews revealed that children and mothers who attended DART felt it helped their recovery and their relationship

We believe we can achieve better outcomes for many more children if we work in partnership to put more evidence into practice. We also want to learn what works for others implementing our services. Come and learn:

  • How this evidence-basse programme could improve outcomes for mothers and children you are working with

  • How to become a DART licence holder

  • How we will use learning from implementation science to support you
