Description

Following the success of the ESRC-funded Approaches to Reducing Domestic Abuse Conference jointly organised by the University of Suffolk (SISER) and the University of Essex (Centre for Criminology), and the interest expressed by academics, students, practitioners and others who attended to continue to come together to share learning and ongoing research on domestic abuse in the region, we are officially launching the Domestic Abuse Research Network at this first event.

To celebrate the launch, we are holding an event featuring stimulating talks as well as excellent networking opportunities.

The theme of the launch event will be ''Domestic Abuse at the Margins'' and will appeal to those who are interested in contributing to discussions and taking forward research looking at under-researched areas for example, (but are not limited to) ethnic minority women, disability, technology, housing and so on.

Speakers for the event will include;

  • Professor Emma Bond and Professor Andy Phippen – University of Suffolk

  • Ngozi Headley-Fulani, IDVA, ISVA and Aaron Tanice, IDVA Sistah Space

  • Gudrun Burnet Group Lead (Domestic Abuse) at Peabody/Co-founder, Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance

  • Dr. Olumide Adisa & Fiona Costello – University of Suffolk.

Cllr Paul West, Cabinet Member for Communities, will be opening the event.

Partners for this event are: Suffolk County Council (Suffolk Violence and Abuse Partnership), and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk.

Attendance to this event is free, but places are limited so please only book a space if you can attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
